Upgrade

I've upgraded the software a bit on midnight12.com and am now using the fastest settings available to my knowledge. The site is more responsive and reacts almost instantly when you click around on the clips and functions.
Took a screenshot and these are the settings:

Silent night

Hi again. Been busy for a while. I've been nursing midnight12.com a bit and it seems to work out pretty good. I will try to post some statistics later on. Traffic is increasing slowly while new videos are being posted on a regular basis. Took the design to a higher level and it looks slightly more cool now in my opinion. You may give it a look and give some input as a comment if you like. Also I'm working on a new linking strategy so if you go through some of my domains it just shows midnight12.com as it is present now. I know some of you like statistics and images with graphs and fancy stuff. Well to be honest I do too but they are hard to get. It seems my site midnight12.com gets banned temporary some of the time on Cloudflare because of my site's traffic level, as part of the DDOS protection. This eventually put a nail in the coffen to Cloudflare and I'm not testing them anymore with this tube site. I still use them for other less visited sites though. Yesterday I maxed out the output of my server harddrives with 148MB/sec at the peak (109164 hits in one day) which is supposed to be the maximum transfer rate of a RAID0 2xSATA harddrive. It slowed down the site a bit. As part of this I've decided to upgrade my solution with 2 new SSD drives instead and place them in RAID0 - this is supposed to be the fastest solution available besides other really expensive custom storage solutions. The geeks among you are probably trying to tell me "SATA does transfer 600MB/sec on each channel" - I am aware of that but I'm trying to keep within the limitations of my webhost's language and standard disk drives with SATA connection do only transfer a maximum of upto 74MB/sec per disk while a SSD disk is capable of transferring upto 600MB/sec per disk :) I don't even know why storage specialized companies like Samsung or Western Digital aren't producing any double SSD solutions - double the height and add a RAID0 controller module embedded into the disk. It would give a speed increase of 100% on each disk. 1200MB/sec per disk. As like a M2 module disk. Might be a price issue or maybe the techies are taking a nap? ;)

As some of you know, I also play online games on a regular basis. Sometimes it's a Steam game CS:GO (Counter Strike: Global Offensive) and at other times it's the MMORPG called Lineage2 (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) on the official Naia EU server. I have an orc there called FastBuffer which is a Iss Hierophant (combined buffer and healer). Used her as a buff-pet in earlier days. Have a few other toons too but I take it that FastBuffer is the most well-known among my characters. Trigger and Qwest being some of the first and oldest characters. I've been playing since the Open Beta and never really left again. That must be since the year 2003. I've met many friendly people along the road while some played as enemy a bit of the time. My number one rule in any game, is: Don't judge the person behind the screen for what their toon is doing, they may be living out their dream being an evil character in the game while if you met them out-of-game (IRL) he or she might be the most nice and chilled person you'll ever get to know. Made a screenshot for you to look at and attached it to this post. The EXP stats is after a small casual grind at my usual spot near Aden city on Naia. Hope you like it :)

#1000 members and counting... Great! :-)

Happy day for Adepca! 1000 visitors decided to create an account on www.adepca.com which shows great support for the content on this website. Traffic is coming in at a higher pace and users seem to be happy with the offers they get presented from ads which is awesome. I've taken some time to register and put in some more websites to generally lighten up the network a bit and for strengthening the current linking structure. With time I will add a forum to Adepca.com and also I will be starting to seek informations on how to become CA with ability to issue out certificates for websites at a competitive price level, for this time being you can use the banners I've placed in the right side of the screen to purchase domains, certificates and webhosting. I hope you will take your time and invest it into making your own network(s) larger, also it would be nice to get to know some of you on a more friendly level. Right now it's more like a dictator writing to followers rather than friends interacting, the comment fields are open for submitting your input within each post. Furthermore I will refine the "Adepca Linking Strategy", it was released a bit early but in general it is a almost complete blueprint as far as you can stick to the released version and use it for your own good. Have a great day all. Some music to relax a bit after this read: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_iRx2Un07k

Adepca Linking Strategy

Back on track. I've finally made up my mind and want to share something with you. It's a linking strategy that I've come up with which I'm trying to implement into my own network (it tend to get a bit muddy sometimes). Thanks to Google I've made this sheet faster than expected because of fast updates which means I can draw conclusions faster. This is almost what it's all about. It shows you how many feeders, how they are linked, where they are sending traffic and where to link into to money makers. I hope you can use it for something. Select a starting point and work continuosly towards your target which in this case would be a complete network. When you're done with your first network move to next network (new paysite or other moneymaker) and so forth or keep building your first network to outgrow your competition. This way you will be #1 and stay #1 until someone else beats you to it. Enough said about performance, do it with your own pace and work as many hours you can withstand. Don't get stressed over 1 or 2 networks. Good things come with time and does take passion to complete.

Relative-Contrary Theory (Black holes)

From what I've experienced so far in live and life I believe that all people get bored if they are talking about the same themes all the time - so this post goes to new knowledge that I've discovered personally by interacting with my mind on a deeper level than current philosophy explains so far. I hope you will like your new friend and that black holes don't invade the earth ;-)

Kg = Mass
Time = distance (not explained)
Frequency = Hz

First of all - thank you for visiting my blog and reading my posts. Midnight12.com seems to be running without big hickups and visitors are finding their way to the site, either by SE, feeders or with this blog. The system contains 3 factors, the server , the software and the website system. Here's a list of the server (also called hardware):

  • SP-32 Server - Intel Xeon E3-1270v6 - 32GB DDR4 ECC 2400 MHz - SoftRaid 2x2TB - at OVH.
  • Debian 8 prefered as Operative System.
  • /var partition setup to RAID0 (remember to create backup and download it reguarly for your website, setting for each virtualhost in ISPConfig3).
  • 8 extra IP adresses (DNS managed by domainseller, 1 IP for E-Mail, 8 IP for Website (9 IP in total).

This setup can be bought at a cheap price starting at around 60 euro monthly at my favorite hosting company OVH.
The server goes with 1Gbps upload (not capped) and 500Mbps download speed. It's including 6TB bandwidth (upload & download combined) per month - if you need extra traffic there are packages you can purchase (contact support).

To setup all this together takes time. Grab a cup of coffee, tea or chocolate first and then start with setting up the system... Click Read more to get details about how to setup the first steps of the system.

UK law and free porn

As I read the news UK is passing on a law next month to give users of free porn another hurdle (turnoff). Users need to prove they are 18 years old in order to access the pages. While I do agree not to show porn to minors and children below 18 years of age - this raises a new problem for website owners aswell. They need to figure out how to make it technical possible. The words free porn also comes to mind, because it will not be free for any longer. It´ll be locked away. I know this has been working for a few years in Germany - Link to article on dr.dk and Link to article on The Guardian.

Website final setup and settings (wrap-up)

OK. So all together it seems I finally managed to build a website that looks pretty cool, design wize - and works flawless technically. The website is running on one dedicated server (midnight12.com). Platform is Joomla 3.1.0 running with some plugins and customized modules to make it all look good and jelly.
The template on the website is a customized version of protostar, default Joomla template. DNS is managed by Namecheap.com and consist of 1. A record 51.77.1XX.2XX, 2. CNAME www.midnight12.com. I use CNAME for the www part as its recommended by Google for best practises when running a website and if you want to keep away from duplicate content. Traffic is coming in and I do see some activity in regards to member registrations and visitors - so it turns out to be quite a nice project - I know from past projects that if one is consistant with updates and let the time pass some, the Search Engines and your visitors will thank you by keep coming back :-)
My best advice is to build a website towards the visitors and not to please the Search Engines, since it is your visitors that will be using your website. The SE´s are just a pleaser factor to make it easier for you to get settled and move on to different projects or to broaden your existing website with new and fresh content. Advertisements are going to be the next step for midnight12.com and I know exactly how that will turn out. Really fucking expensive, but alot of visitors to pay the bill by using my sponsors (affiliate programs I am using).

Here´s a screenshot for the people who are technical savvy.

Quit DNS move on

Settled for a final solution. Instead of having to host the DNS myself, I'm going to use Namecheap´s DNS setup and get the traffic flow that way around. It also is more easy on the server and features DDoS attack protection aswell.  A record for midnight12.com is @ 51.77.1XX.2XX, CNAME www.midnight12.com and a mail IP (mail.midnight12.com). It should be sufficient to keep everything running for that site. All the feeders are still running and more has been added. Did some traffic flow interventions as well on existing sites to conform with the new site as a new member of the family. Redirecting 404 traffic to midinight12.com now as well from some sites. Funny thing is that when mingling with the DNS it sometimes makes a burp and throws in another site of mine, as if it´s all floating in the air working together with references. Kind of funny. Cache maybe? Also discovered it with emails that if an email is catched from a site that does not have email setup, it forwards the email to the known owners primary email address. Crrrazy place this internet ;-) Oh well.. final music before bedtime: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hzssKb9940

DNS Server and Dedicated ISPConfig3 setup

DNS server was installed and I had all domains put into the zone files. Seems there is a bug with ISPConfig3 and the bind9 DNS server which is being used together with ISPConfig3. Here's a small fix on how to get the DNS server running at all times. Please follow this link: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=744304#32 . If you're asking yourself where I get all my domains from, I can recommend Namecheap. They have all .tld extensions at fair price and has been working for me the past 12 years as registrar for all my international domains. A good idea is  to enable two-factor authentication to make it harder for intruders to get their hands on your domains. The SMS arrives instantly. It would be a sad day if one day all my domains were gone alltogether ;-) They also provide you with free DNS servers together with your domain all neat setup in an easy to use web interface. Works pretty well out-of-the-box and they´re not penalized by Google or any other Search Engines around if you´re asking yourself that question. Sometimes it is even more simple just to use their services if it´s an add-on domain for a splash page.

Been spending a bit of time.

I've been spending some time on Midnight12 with setting up DNS and getting everything ready to make the site possible. Perfect setup. One should figure that a tube is supposed to be uploaded to - but I stumbled into a problem considering upload and Cloudflare. They have a filesize limit for uploads making it impossible for me to keep using them because it's simply to small. 100MB (500MB with an Enterprise solution) doesn't even cover 5mins of video means I need to supply myself with DNS server. Good thing is that the server i purchased from OVH comes with everything: DNS, WWW, FTP, MySQL and all bells and whistles which basically means I can move from Cloudflare onto my own premises. Let's see how the site works when it has moved. I kinda got to like their statistics, but I have my own as well :-) I also finally tweaked Apache2, MySQL and PHP so the settings should be perfect for hosting a large amount of visitors daily. The problem occured while I was trying to upload larger videos, I simply could not understand why the server kept disconnecting/refusing connection after a few moments of uploading. I finally found the culprit and uploads work again.

Midnight12.Com re-model.

Changed a few design related things on midnight12.com that needed to be changed in order to make the site profitable. Added banners, added videos, re-model of the website template, made a fine logo too :-)

SEO work

I had some time to play around with midnight12 and did some SEO. I did some reciprocal links, means A<->B links. This seems to work.
Here are the statistics from the last 24h on Cloudflare.

Dedicated Server purchased

Finally got myself pulled together to purchase a Dedicated Server. I've had a few over the time and as time flies by they become cheaper.
I remember when hosting was the biggest bill when running websites. This seems history. It's probably still a big bill to pay for some - but with dropping prices future seems bright :-)
I choose an SP-32 Server - Intel Xeon E3-1270v6 - 32GB DDR4 ECC 2400 MHz - SoftRaid 2x2TB from OVH. It has a 1Gbps internet connection (500Mbps upload limit) and is attached to a 13Tbps network. It's located in London (UK).
It should be sufficient to run what I need. All necessary packages have been installed (libavcodec56, ffmpeg, gpac, flvtool2). I choose to have ISPconfig 3.0.5.4 (Debian 8) installed which makes it easier to manage all domains from one web interface.
